Our NY Trip for the 2011 Traders Expo and Money Show

Gil and Dr. K all pumped up to board the Citation X for the flight to The Big Apple.
The obligatory photo of Dr. K, a.k.a. "Mr. Jet-setter," stepping up the ramp and into the jet.
On the way to NY we were joined by my good friends Mike Margiotta, on the far left, and Dr. Pinchas "Hassy" Cohen on the far right. Mike is assisting us at our presentation, while Dr. Hassy has some meetings in NY for his new bio-tech start-up, Humanin, which hopes to capitalize on some patents Hassy has for cures for diabetes and prostate cancer.
Dr. K and Gil review their NY interview and presentation schedule with publicist Darlene March on the Citation X en route to NYC.
Dr. K ponders the schedule while Darlene comments.
Gil in between Dr. Hassy Cohen, left, and Mike Margiotta, who acted as bar tender emeritus on the flight to NYC.
Dr. K and Gil both agree that Mike makes a mean Bloody Mary.
Dr. Hassy discussed the chemistry behind his bio-tech patents with Dr. K on the flight to NY.
Right after take off from LAX, Gil got a great shot of Marina del Rey and Playa del Rey, site of MoKa Investors LLC headquarters. The marina entrance is clearly visible in the center of the photo, and somewhere to the right of that along the beach is the office of MoKa Investors LLC. In LA, snow stays where it belongs - in the mountains!
The Citation X is the world's fastest business jet, and after a "freakishly fast" 4 hour trip we suddenly found ourselves looking out the windows at an icy Hudson River surrounded by snow-clad fields. Brrrr...
On final approach to Westchester Airport just north of Manhattan, we had a nice view to the East of the Connecticut coast along Long Island Sound.
Here's a shot for the cover of "Trader Magazine," with Mike standing between the limo and the Citation X on the tarmac at Westchester Airport as he acclimates to the snowy, cold clime...
The Citation X sits on the tarmac at Westchester Airport where it will remain for the next three days as we go about our business in NYC.
Darlene is the first one into the limo for the short ride into The Big Apple.
Dr. K gets into the limo and is immediately attracted to the Ehrlenmeyer flasks he sees in the limo's little bar area, which he mistakes for a mini-laboratory.
Dr. K "mixing chemicals" in the limo...
Once we got to the Marriot Marquis hotel we went up to the top of the building for some dinner at the hotel's revolving restaurant. Dr. K and Gil ended up with their stomachs doing a little revolving of their own after dinner - was it too much rich food or did that duck foie gras come from Central Park?
The next morning we awoke to a light snow outside our hotel windows.
After breakfast it was time to go down the glass elevators to the hotel conference rooms for our NY Traders Expo presentation.
In the middle of our presentation in the "Soho Room" of the hotel. The room was pretty well filled up.
After our presentation we had some time to answer questions and take photos with attendees.
From the presentation we went off to the John Wiley & Sons booth for a book signing.
Dr. K being interviewed for MoneyShow.com by Karen Gibbs, former CNBC "bond babe" and co-host of Luis Rukeyser's Wall Street Week.
Gil was also interviewed for MoneyShow.com. We did six interviews all together, three apiece, for MoneyShow.com. By the end of the day, we were tired!
After the interviews, Gil got a photo with Karen Gibbs. Gil has always considered Karen to be the "Oprah Winfrey of Finance."
Dr. K also got a photo with Karen...
Tuesday morning we started off the day with a visit to Minyanville.com where Dr. K did a quick video interview.
After that it was off to the New York Stock Exchange for dual interviews with Larry Kofsky of MarketWatch.com. Here's Gil in the booth...
Dr. K during his MarketWatch.com interview.
While Dr. K was being interviewed way in the back, Gil ran into CNBC's Bob Pisani and chatted with him about the market's reaction to the Libyan news that day.
Bob gives Gil a somber rundown on the market's morning action due to the crisis in Libya.
Gil & Dr. K with Larry Kofsky of MarketWatch.com in the gallery overlooking the floor of the NYSE.
These days the NYSE floor is a veritable ghost town.
Dr. K and Gil leaving the NYSE after their MarketWatch.com interviews.
Dr. K in the Bloomberg Radio studios for the Pimm Fox Show.
On the other side of the Bloomberg Radio studio is Gil, ready to rock on the Pimm Fox Show.
A shot from the control room at Bloomberg Radio - Dr. K is clearly visible on the right, and Gil is hidden behind all the monitors in the middle way in the back.
On Wednesday we headed out across the NY "countryside" north of Manhattan on the way to Westchester Airport. From a Californian's perspective this was quite a bleak scene.
Everyone is all smiles as we prepare to close the hatch of the Citation X and depart for home in California. That's Dr. Hassy on the far left, then Jared Chao who met us in NY and hitched a ride home with us on Wednesday, our pilot Dennis Marples who is also a VoSI subscriber, co-pilot Nate Carillo, Mike Margiotta, and Darlene March.
As we took off from Westchester Airport, Gil got this shot looking upriver on the Hudson towards his wife's hometown of Montrose, NY near Croton.
On the other side of the jet we got a great view of Manhattan and the mouth of the Hudson River.
A close-up of mid-town Manhattan, with the silhouette of the Empire State Building visible in the middle along with snow-covered Central Park.
And so we bid a fond "adieu" to the Big Apple as we made our final turn to the west and headed homeward.
