Major averages stepped fractionally lower on lower volume though the VIX shot higher later in the day due to Brexit polls now showing a neck-and-neck race on whether the UK will stay or leave the EU. Final results will not be posted until well after US markets close Thursday, so Friday's open will be the one to watch.
Futures are up about almost 1% at the time of this writing as Brexit polls point to the UK remaining in the EU. European markets are up by about 1-2%. The UK market has recovered most all of its losses due to Brexit concerns, so assuming the UK stays in the EU, it could be a sell on the news event when the US market opens on Friday.
