In reference to Clinton's role with regard to student debt, the "7 year rule" led to students with loans being without recourse to bankruptcy. This was passed into law during Bill Clinton's presidency. That said, the following article clarifies what role Hillary Clinton played in attempting to forgive student loans but in reality, according to the article below, had other intentions:
"In reviewing internal briefing documents sent to John Podesta for approval within the [Hillary] Clinton campaign (thanks Wikileaks), it becomes obvious that the campaign had zero intentions of returning bankruptcy to federal student loans, and that they planned to perpetuate the absence of bankruptcy for the vast majority of private student loans as well."
