Current Revised Focus List
The VoSI Focus List is a compilation and reference list of stocks for which Pocket Pivot or Buyable Gap-Up Reports have been issued and which have been deemed suitable for inclusion on the Focus List. Not all stocks for which a Pocket Pivot or Buyable Gap-Up report has been issued will necessarily be added to the list. It is not intended as a "buy list" or a list of immediately actionable recommendations. Stocks on the list may or may not be in proper buy positions, and investors should exercise discretion and proper judgement in determining when and where stocks on the Focus List can be purchased. The following notes are intended to assist in this process. Please note that members can enlarge the Focus List image by clicking on the body of the email and then holding the Control Key while pressing the "+" key until it is large enough to read.
We have sifted through a large number of stocks this morning and have added several to the Focus List. The list above reflects the entire list, with additions. It is sorted by Earnings Due date, with the nearest dates at the top. Hence, NFLX is shown at the top, with WB, which is expected to report on 2/28, at the bottom. Most of these names have been in the process of building new bases after previously violating their 50-dmas in many cases. We have to adjust to the hard reality that 50-dma violations, which, incidentally, normally functioned as a final sell signal in the "old days," no longer have the same validity as they did in the past. In fact, Gil has discussed this phenomenon frequently in our live webinars, and he has noted that 50-dma violations often become fake outs that instead tend to mark a final low or near-low instead of the start of a major top and downtrend in leading stocks.
Such is the nature of the QE market where much of the buying has come from central banks who often are now the majority shareholders in large cap names. We would look for breakouts to emerge if and as the general market continues higher. We feel strongly that this list represents a strong core group of stocks to keep on one's watch list, using opportunistic pullbacks or new set-ups, including breakouts, pocket pivots, and buyable gap-ups, as fresh entries.
Added:
Alibaba (BABA) after showing additonal strength following last Tuesday's pocket pivot, for which we issued a report at the time.
Electronic Arts (EA) after posting a roundabout pocket pivot at the 50-dma on Friday
Amazon.Com (AMZN) after posting a pocket pivot breakout last Tuesday.
Coherent (COHR) after posting a pocket pivot at the 50-dma on Friday as it appears to be building a new base.
Take-Two Interactive (TTWO) after posting a series of five-day pocket pivot signatures as it regains and rises further above its 50-dma. It is currently extended from the 50-dma, so pullbacks closer to the line would be buyable.
Nvidia (NVDA) after posting a strong gap-up pocket pivot on Wednesday and holding tight along its prior highs over the following two days.
Square (SQ) after posting a strong roundabout pocket pivot at the 50-dma on Friday which we first reported on as something for members to be watching for on Thursday.
